About Management

The Copper Canyon Fire and Medical District is managed administratively through a standard chain of command consisting of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chiefs, and Chief.

A firefighter may promote to any of these positions. In addition, there are other opportunities for personal growth and development through training and individual application.

Reserve Firefighters earn an hourly rate and are eligible to be considered for promotion to a full time firefighter position when one becomes available.

Copper Canyon Fire and Medical District employs 33 Full Time Firefighters, and 3 full time Battalion Chiefs. The shift schedule is 48/96. We are always accepting applications for for Reserve Firefighter candidates. For more information regarding our Reserve program please click here.

Open Positions

 POSITION: FIRE MARSHAL

General Information:

Copper Canyon Fire & Medical is seeking an experienced Fire Marshal to join our District.  The Fire Marshal performs complex duties in planning; organizing and directing fire prevention, plan review and arson investigations.

The District enjoys the strong support of our communities, and is governed by a five-member elected body that meets monthly.  Our stations are staffed by three shifts of fourteen full-time firefighters, which are augmented by Reserve Firefighters (part-time).  The Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Administrative Manager and two Administrative Assistants handle the Administrative and Community Risk Reduction functions for the District.  Regionally, there is a Fire Investigation Task Force that is comprised of Fire Marshals and Investigators for our neighboring agencies.   There is also a broader network of Northern Arizona Fire Investigators, as well as a statewide group that meets regularly to help promote fire prevention and community risk reduction.

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in Fire Science or related field from an accredited college, plus at least  5 years of experience in Fire/EMS, with a minimum of two years in fire prevention, code enforcement, fire inspection, fire investigation or closely related role.  Please see job description for all requirements.

Reserve Firefighter  

CCFMA and VVFD are seeking qualified applicants for our shared service reserve program. This is a progressive program between two agencies covering a combined 130 square miles. Applicants must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, EMT or CEP certified with current CPR card, Firefighter 1&2 certified, possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and have a current CPAT card. Applications can be picked up at either agencies main office or on line at either agencies web site.
